Project overview
The Lucknow Police citizen services portal is a set of online services and internal modules developed by Websofy for the Lucknow Police Commissionerate. Citizens apply for services online, and police stations and specialised units process the applications through role-based logins.
The situation before
Requests such as character certificates, event permissions and verifications were submitted on paper and moved between offices by hand. Applicants had to visit repeatedly to learn the status, and supervising officers had no simple way to see how many requests were pending at each police station.
Modules
- Character certificate verification: applications routed to the concerned police station and units for report.
- Permission module (e-permission): online application with OTP verification, processing by offices and a downloadable certificate.
- Property verification: verification requests handled through defined stages.
- E-rickshaw module: owner and driver verification, registration requests, approval and QR-coded records.
- Writ module: court matters tracked with dates and status.
- Daily work records: entries for units such as SSI, Eagle mobile, court moharrir and pairokar.
- Reports: pendency and disposal by police station and unit.
How an application moves
| Stage | What happens |
| Apply | The citizen fills the form online and verifies by OTP. |
| Route | The request reaches the concerned police station or unit. |
| Verify | The field report is entered against the application. |
| Decide | The competent officer approves or returns it. |
| Issue | The applicant downloads the certificate or permission. |
| Monitor | Officers see pendency for every station. |
Roles and accountability
Each police station and unit has its own login and sees only the applications routed to it. Reports entered by field staff are attached to the application, and the approving officer's decision is recorded with date and time. Supervising officers can therefore see not just how many applications are pending but where each one is waiting.
How Websofy delivered it
The services were added one at a time, beginning with those that brought the most visitors to police offices. For each service we documented the existing form and the offices involved, built the online application and the internal workflow, and trained the stations and units that would use it. The portal has since grown to include daily work records for several units of the commissionerate.
What changed
Citizens can apply and download the result without repeated visits, and every application has a visible status. Units such as the LIU, police stations and DCRB work from their own logins, while senior officers monitor disposal across the commissionerate. Related work: e-rickshaw verification system and writ management application.
How we approach engagements like this
- Requirement discovery mapped to the real workflow, users and data involved
- Solution architecture and module planning before any code is written
- Secure, tested engineering with clear documentation
- Structured handover, training and post-launch support
